Friendship: The Best Platform for Successful Sitcoms

If you have noticed, sitcoms about friendship have the most success. Who can forget FRIENDS? The group of six unique individuals who have their own identities and shortcomings. There is also Sex and the City. A story of four empowered women who share their thoughts about New York, love, life, relationships and sex. And then there is also How I Met Your Mother. It's about five friends, two of whom are married to each other. And finally there is New Girl, about a school teacher, a model best friend and three guy friends she met online after breaking up with her boyfriend.

Friends intro:

Why do stories about friendship work?

It works because many can relate to it. These shows depict what real people go through. The characters portrayed make mistakes, in the same way that real people do. They make bad choices and they face the consequences of their action. They deal with real, complex problems as well. In addition to that, it also shows how dysfunctional yet sincere friendship can be.

Why does comedy work?

It works because people just want to have a good time. They want to sit, relax and laugh. Comedy makes  people feel good. It something that takes their worry away. Most of all, it makes them feel better, not just because it is fun, but also because it is a confirmation that a person can be lovable even with all his imperfections.
